Asylum - Poetry reading

On Thursday 9 November at 5pm, come and listen to the reading of Asylum, a poetry sequence by award-winning cine-poet and writer, Graham Roos.

 

Graham Roos is an award-winning cine-poet and writer. His work has spanned the media of theatre, film, opera, poetry, music, and text. 

For many years he taught dramaturgy at LAMDA where he showcased his play Her Holiness the Pope. His published work includes Rave, Quest and Apocalypse Calypso and he is currently working on a fourth collection of poems – Asylum

Award winning films include - Darkness - a cine-poem using the text of Lord Byron’s poem - which won ‘Best Experimental Film at the Global Shorts Festival’ - The Curse of Minerva, likewise a take on the poetry of Lord Byron - The Jews of Rome and Ashby’s Odyssey, among others.

Graham is currently working on Tree Father - a cine-poem documenting the life of a 2000-year-old Yew Tree in the Peak District and The Devil’s Last Dance a play based on the last few months of Lord Byron’s life.
